Naomi Campbell Goes Yachting While Blood Diamond Story Is Disputed

Thanks to the appearance of Campbell as a witness, the UN tribunal of former Liberian president Charles Taylor has gained notoriety, and it was the scene of another conflict Tuesday when Taylor's lawyer accused the supermodel's former agent of presenting a "complete pack of lies" in her testimony.

Defending what she'd said, ex-agent for Campbell Carole White repeated allegations that the model received diamonds from Taylor after a dinner in South Africa in 1997. While Campbell's testimony was being disputed and defended, a newspaper in Sardinia off the coast of Italy, L'Unione Sarda, reported that on Sunday night the supermodel was at play at a party with super-couple Leonardo DiCaprio and Bar Refaeli, Janet Jackson, Quincy Jones, Kevin Spacey – and diamond merchant Fawaz Gruosi. At the UN tribunal, the lawyer for Taylor, Courtenay Griffiths, blasted White's testimony and accused her of making it up in order to bolster her own breach-of-contract lawsuit against Campbell. In the agent's legal action, White claims the supermodel owes her about $600,000 in lost earnings over the past two years, reports the BBC.

"It's not a lie," White said to Griffiths.

"Put bluntly," the attorney continued, "for you this is all about money, there ain't nothing funny." Said White: "I can categorically tell you, this happened. I told people about it after the journey, people that I trusted. It was quite funny at the time. It's not so funny now."
She added, "It has nothing whatsoever to do with my business argument with Naomi Campbell. This is not about money. This is about a very serious matter, and I am telling the truth."

Last week, Campbell, 40, appeared at the tribunal, which is being held in The Hague in the Netherlands, and admitted she was given "dirty rocks" by Taylor. Prosecutors say he swapped guns to rebels in neighboring Sierra Leone for uncut diamonds during that country's 10-year civil war which began in 1992. Taylor, 62, stands accuses of allegedly arming, training and commanding the rebels to kill and maim thousands of civilians across the border. He has pleaded not guilty to 11 war crimes charges, including murder, rape, sexual enslavement and recruiting child soldiers.
This past Monday at the tribunal, Mia Farrow, 65, testified that Campbell had actually boasted the morning after the dinner that the gift of diamonds was from Taylor.
